Heating & Cooling Centers-211

Category: Shelter/Housing

Cooling Sites agree to open their doors to offer air-conditioned relief and cool water during the hottest part of the day. Sites will be activated if an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.

In Franklin County, this includes all public libraries and Aging Ahead Senior Centers.  See the link in this post for the complete list of St. Louis area locations, which includes the address, phone and hours of the heating and cooling centers.

In addition, during extreme heat and cold temperatures, people who are currently unhoused are encouraged to visit the Mercy Hospital Emergency Department and request assistance with a temporary housing voucher.  Mercy is located at 901 E. Fifth Street, Washington.
